Information for Manuscript/Papers Submission

The Journal of HBS M&DC is committed to publishing high-quality research in medical and dental sciences. To facilitate a smooth and transparent submission process, we have outlined a step-by-step guide for authors. Please carefully follow these instructions to ensure your manuscript meets our standards and is processed efficiently.

Step 1: Prepare Your Manuscript

Before submitting, ensure your manuscript adheres to the journal’s guidelines:

  1. Manuscript Formatting: Ensure that the manuscript is formatted according to the Journal of HBS M&DC requirements, including proper citation format (Vancouver style), structured sections (IMRAD for research articles), and clear, professional English.
  2. Cover Letter: Prepare a cover letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief. The letter should include:
    • The title of the manuscript.
    • A brief explanation of the significance of the research.
    • A statement confirming the manuscript’s originality and that it is not under consideration elsewhere.
    • Any relevant declarations, such as conflicts of interest or prior presentations/publications of the data.
  3. Ethics Approval: For research involving human or animal subjects, include a statement of approval from the appropriate ethics committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Step 2: Submit Your Manuscript

Manuscripts must be submitted online via the journal’s submission system. Follow these steps:

  1. Register or Log in: Go to the Journal of HBS M&DC submission platform and either log in if you have an existing account or register as a new user.
  2. Enter Manuscript Information: Complete the required details about your manuscript, including:
    • Title of the manuscript.
    • List of all authors, with full names, affiliations, and contact details of the corresponding author.
    • Abstract (150-250 words).
    • Keywords (3–6 keywords for indexing purposes).
  3. Upload Files: Upload the following:
    • Manuscript file (in Microsoft Word format).
    • Figures and tables (if not embedded in the manuscript, provide high-resolution separate files).
    • Ethics approval (if applicable).
    • Cover letter.
    • Supplementary materials (if any, including data sets or additional documents relevant to the manuscript).
  4. Conflict of Interest Declaration: During the submission, you will be required to disclose any conflicts of interest and provide information about any sources of funding for the research.

Step 3: Initial Editorial Screening

Once submitted, your manuscript will undergo an initial screening by the editorial team to ensure that it complies with the journal’s submission guidelines. During this phase, the following will be checked:

  • Scope: Whether the manuscript fits within the scope of the journal.
  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin. Submissions exceeding the allowed plagiarism threshold will be rejected immediately.
  • Formatting: The editorial team will verify if the manuscript meets the journal’s formatting requirements.

If any issues are found, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for revision before proceeding to peer review.

Step 4: Peer Review Process

Following successful completion of the initial screening, the manuscript will be sent for double-blind peer review, ensuring that both reviewers and authors remain anonymous. The review process typically involves the following:

  1. Assignment to Reviewers: The manuscript will be assigned to at least two independent, expert reviewers. Reviewers will assess the manuscript’s:
    • Scientific validity.
    • Novelty and significance of the research.
    • Clarity and quality of writing.
    • Adherence to ethical standards.
  2. Reviewer Feedback: Reviewers will provide detailed comments and recommendations to improve the manuscript. Based on their evaluations, the manuscript will be classified into one of the following categories:
    • Accepted: The manuscript is accepted as is or with minor revisions.
    • Minor revisions: Authors are requested to make specific, minor changes.
    • Major revisions: Substantial changes are needed before the manuscript can be considered for publication.
    • Rejected: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in the journal.

Step 5: Manuscript Revision (if necessary)

If revisions are required:

  1. Respond to Reviewers: Authors must address all reviewer comments in a point-by-point manner. Revised manuscripts should include:
    • A clean, revised version of the manuscript.
    • A detailed response letter addressing each reviewer’s comments, explaining the changes made.
  2. Resubmit: The revised manuscript should be resubmitted through the same online platform, within the timeline specified by the editorial office.

The revised manuscript may undergo further rounds of review depending on the nature of the revisions requested.

Step 6: Editorial Decision

Once the peer review process is complete, the editorial board will make the final decision based on the reviewers’ reports. The possible decisions are:

  • Acceptance: The manuscript is accepted for publication. The authors will receive a formal acceptance letter.
  • Further Revisions: Additional minor revisions may be required before acceptance.
  • Rejection: The manuscript is rejected, either because it does not meet the journal’s standards or due to negative peer reviews.

Step 7: Final Proof and Publication

Upon acceptance, the manuscript will undergo a final proofreading and typesetting process. Authors will receive page proofs to review and correct any typographical errors or formatting issues. Authors must:

  1. Carefully review the proofs within the given timeframe.
  2. Submit final corrections to the editorial team.

Once the proofs are finalized, the manuscript will be scheduled for publication in the next available issue of the Journal of HBS M&DC.

Step 8: Post-Publication

Upon publication, the final version of the article will be made available on the journal’s website, and authors will receive a digital copy of their published paper..

Step 9: Promoting Your Article

Authors are encouraged to promote their published research by sharing the article link via social media, academic networks, and institutional repositories. The Journal of HBS M&DC also promotes published articles through its online platforms.
